2-Day OrPATS Workshop:
Implementing Evidence-Based Practices for Preschool and Elementary Students
Participants will receive training on how to use the following instructional strategies: discrete trial training, pivotal response training, teaching functional routines and positive behavior intervention and supports as used in the STAR Program. This workshop is appropriate for teachers, assistants, related service providers, specialists and administrators working with students with ASD and other related developmental disabilities.

Consistency of Implementation: An Advanced Workshop on Evidence Based Strategies Used in the STAR Program (Arick, Loos, Falco and Krug 2015) Version 2
Presented by: Joel Arick and Brenda Hancock
The workshop is designed for pre-school, elementary, or middle school staff currently implementing evidence-based practices using the STAR curriculum with students. Participants should have already attended a two day workshop on the STAR Program or have had extensive experience implementing the program.

1-Day OrPATS Workshop:
Parent Training for Preschool
Participants will receive an overview of the evidence-based strategies taught within the parent training curriculum Teaching Social Communication to Children with Autism by Brooke Ingersoll and Anna Dvortcsak, focusing on direct and indirect strategies and techniques for coaching families with children with ASD and communication and social interaction delays. This workshop is appropriate for EI/ECSE staff planning to implement the parent training with families.

2-Day New Autism Specialist/Consultant Training
New Autism Specialist/Consultant Training: The OrPATS Project in collaboration with the Oregon Regional Programs and the Oregon Department of Education will be offering training for Autism Specialists/Consultants this school year. The training will include information on autism characteristics, Oregon assessment and eligibility procedures, evidence-based practices for students with autism and effective consultation methods. The first training was a two day workshop that focused on autism characteristics and the Oregon eligibility procedures. That training was conducted on October 26-27 at Willamette ESD in Salem. The second training is a two day workshop that will focus on evidence-based practices, positive behavior supports, transition planning, visual supports and instructional coaching. OrPATS will reimburse school districts for travel expenses for participants needing to travel further than 50 miles from home. The training is open to any Regional or District autism specialist/consultant. To register for the workshop complete the following form and fax it to Kathi Dehm at STAR Autism Support:

Substitute Release Funds Available for Workshop Participants:
The Oregon Department of Education has made a small amount of funds available to reimburse participating agencies for staff substitute pay. These funds are to provide release time to staff to be involved in OrPATS training (Workshops and/or visits to OrPATS Training Sites). Please view the form below for detailed information on requesting substitute reimbursements.
